Rumour has it that film, actress Meena is due to get married on July 12. Though there is no confirmation yet of the buzz, it is certainly being reinforced by the fact that she is shooting at hectic pace for the Telugu film “Tarigonda Vengamamba” so as to be free much before the rumoured date of her wedding.
While film buffs and analysts alike are waiting to see if she will get married to Bengaluru-based software engineer cum businessman Vidyasagar, to whom she got engaged at Chennai, Meena has gone on record that she will “continue with my acting even after marriage”.
That assertion is understandable, considering that Meena, who started acting as a child artist in Sivaji Ganesan’s “Nenjangal”, has so far acted in more than 150 films in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, before switching over to a TV serial “Lakshmi” in which her role and performance were widely acclaimed.
Film-goers and analysts are inclined to believe her when she says that marriage will not put a full stop to her acting, even though two other actresses have not had their way in films since marriage.
Though Suhasini has not stopped acting in films after her marriage, her husband, ace director Mani Ratnam has not cast her in any of his films post-marriage.
Indeed, the couple recently had to deny reports that Mani was going to cast Suhasini in his forthcoming film “Ravana”.
Similar is the case of Ramya Krishna. Though she too has not stopped acting in films after marriage, her husband, Krishna Vamsi, is in no mood to cast her in any of his films, post-marriage again.
One explanation is that Vamsi wants her to be serious about his films, and that is something she is congenitally incapable of being.
